Andrew Rasch Obituary

Rasch, Andrew
Andrew Edward Robert Joseph Rasch (Bob), born October 8, 1901, passed away peacefully amongst long time family friends on December 10, 2011. Andrew was a decorated veteran of WWI, WWII, and Korea, who through his love of country and service saved many lives. He served on the USS Oklahoma during WWI and his friends believe Sarge to have been the last WWI survivor. Orphaned at a very young age, and with little formal education his experiences shaped him into a man who gathered those in need under his wings. He gained great wisdom and brilliance throughout his life and experience which he shared while raising sixteen young men. He provided Christmas gifts to orphanages in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah for thirty years. He loved all animals but especially Lady and Giant who could sense his loving hands and trust their care to him. Andy touched the lives of many people with his quick wit, generosity, and trademark wry sense of humor all the way to the end. When you'd ask how he's feeling he'd rub his fingers together. That was "our" Andy. Friends and Family are invited to attend his services at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. on Friday, December 16, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. www.ALMoore-Grimshaw.com

It was beyond an honor and a privilege to meet this amazing man! And although the acquaintance was brief, I will never forget how this man touched my life. God Bless You Andy.

Mr. Andy,

You know where my heart was and is in regards to you. The early childhood years with you always lending a helping hand to my parents and so many others. Over the last ten years I've especially enjoyed making our clinic visits, doctors, and road trips to Pine, Tucson, and Waddell. We've had many good times at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Birthdays but especially lunches on Wednesdays. Tuesdays with Morrie had nothing on you! I'm truly confident that God is answering your questions and that you will truly now receive your reward. Thank You for all you've given through the ages!!

Andy was my friend and employee when I owned a Gulf gas station. He was a hard worker and I always had complete trust in his ability to fix things and take care of our customers. He had so much knowledge about many things. As veterans he would share many experiences, during his service to our
country. God Bless "Andy"

I have been changed forever by the words he spoke, the memories he shared, and the inspiration he left in my heart. His was a life unlike any other. The number of lives he touched, changed, helped, & saved are too many to count.
... to all who knew him or heard the many stories of his sacrifical love; may we continue his Legacy by helping the orphans, healing the sick, and rescuing those in danger. His wisdom was from a place and time that we do not know. It is a great loss for us that he is gone.
Andy - you lived your life for everyone else, enjoy your well-desereved rest my friend. Thank you for everything you did.
I love you forever and will miss you until then,
'your girl'

Andy was my friend and was always there with "words of advice". He was still driving the Grand Marquis I sold him in 1998. I appreciated his trust and confidence in me with the referrals of his friends. His knowledge overwhelmed me at times. NOT book knowledge...but experience. I am honored to have called him my friend. And as a Fellow Veteran" I SALUTE HIM! Todd Behrens
