Lois Clarken Obituary

CLARKEN, LOIS JOANN (NEE KEIL), daughter of the late William and Gena (Knudson) Keil died peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 13, 2013, due to complications of dementia. She had resided at Crofton Care & Rehabilitation Center in Crofton for the past 2½years. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of CCRC who treated our wife and mother with much love and respect. Lois was born in Redwood Falls, MN on May 8, 1935 and also graduated from high school there in 1953. She married Warren Clarken that same year and later followed Warren to Annapolis, MD where he was stationed in the Army where they still reside. Lois worked at the Naval Experiment Station, Baltimore Gas & Electric Co., as a postal employee and was a beloved babysitter. Her joys included taking care of her granddaughter, cake decorating, being a Red Hat Society member, using calligraphy skills, sewing, looking after her grand-dogs & many others. Lois is survived by her loving husband, Warren; her devoted daughter, Kileen (Steve) Ludemann of (Glen Burnie, MD; her beloved granddaughter, Stephanie (Nate) Mayer of (Odenton, MD); her sister Marie (Marvin) Stelter of Echo, MN; a brother, Calvin (Joyce) Keil of Denver, CO; a sister-in-law, Martha Keil of Redwood Falls, MN; a sister-in-law Ruth Clarken of Lamberton, MN and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers- Edwin, Robert and Wilber Keil. There will be a visitation on Wed 9/18/13 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 31 Rowe Blvd. Annapolis, MD at 11:30-12:30 where funeral services will begin at 12:30 PM. Interment MD Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD . Online condolences may be placed at www. hardestyfuneralhome.com
