NIELS CECIL "CEC" NIELSEN 1926 - 2014 A true gentleman, Cec was both admired and respected as a student, businessman, investor, collector, bass singer and artist, but he was most proud of being a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Cec was born May 17, 1926 in Curtis, Nebraska, spending his childhood years between Curtis and Los Molinos, California and his entire adult life in Chico. He passed away Saturday, August 23rd at Enloe Hospital of natural causes at the age of 88. Immediately after World War II, as a Sargent in the Army Air Force, he was stationed on Guam as a radio operator. He met the love of his life Anna Belle Francisco, while a student at Chico State College. They married in 1949 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Cec co-founded Chico Electric in 1960. Cec had many accomplishments of family, church, community and business including past President and Governor of the North Eastern California Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association, past Director and 51 year member of the Chico Rotary Club, member of Seniors in Retirement, past President of Valley Contractors Exchange and long time member and past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Trinity United Methodist Church. A Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, Cec was instrumental in the creation of a scholarship trust at Chico State, Rotary and the Trinity United Methodist Church Music Program. A Life Member of the Chico Rod and Gun Club, he was an avid water fowl and big game hunter, angler and traveler. In retirement over the past 28 years, travel has taken him and Anna through all of the United States including railroading in Alaska and Canada. He enjoyed cruising to Nova Scotia, Mexico and Panama Canal. They also traveled in Europe. He and Anna's favorite second home was Kona, Hawaii. He is survived by his son Norman Nielsen (Ann) of Chico, daughter Nancy Donner (Jeff) of Sebastian, Florida and daughter Nora DeGaa (Phil) of Sacramento, Grandson Brad Nielsen (Meryl) of San Francisco and Granddaughter Meg Nielsen of Almaden and sisters, Helene Jo Sheline of Arizona and Nancy Page of Montana. Preceding him in death was his wife Anna, father Jay W. Nielsen and mother Edith Nielsen. Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church music department in care of Bidwell Chapel. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM. Friday, August 29th at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chico.
