Sheila Frederick Obituary

Sheila M. Clarke Frederick
of South Harwich, MA died peacefully on June 23rd, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sheila was born on Jan 11th, 1943 in Greenwich CT to the late Joseph and Lillian Clarke. She grew up in Greenwich, CT and graduated from Greenwich HS and enjoyed playing basketball and softball with the local town teams. She worked at John S. Harold in Greenwich after high school and was proud of her work there. She met the love of her life in Kindergarten and proceeded to make a lifetime of memories from then on. Sheila married Thomas H. Frederick Sr. on August 3rd, 1963 where they danced to the song "True Love" and continued that dance for nearly 57 years. The couple and their young family moved to Cape Cod in the summer of 69. She was a proud housewife and homemaker until her children were older and then became a caretaker to many of the neighborhood elderly making sure that they were looked after, had a home cooked meal and more importantly a friend to talk to.
Sheila had a fierce love of family and reveled in large family gatherings around the pool. She especially loved spending time with her 7 grandchildren and had a unique and loving relationship with each and every one of them. Her love for gardening and pretty, bright colored flowers made the backyard an oasis for our family where she loved to spend her time visiting and telling stories. Her bright smile and hearty laugh were contagious and will always be remembered.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Thomas H. Frederick Sr. of South Harwich, Thomas H. Frederick Jr. and wife Jennifer of Sunapee, NH, Stephen E. Frederick and wife Tracey of Green Cove Springs FL, and daughter Suzanne F. Winkfield and husband Lorne of South Yarmouth. She was a proud grammy of 7 grandchildren, Katherine, Meghan, Ellie of Sunapee, Stevie and Sarah of Green Cove, and Matty and Lily of South Yarmouth. She is also survived by her sister Patricia McCormack of Savannah Georgia, and predeceased by her infant sister Barbara Clarke, her twin brother Michael Clarke and parents Joseph P. Clarke and Lillian Clarke. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Cape Cod or the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
Visitation will be held at Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich Center on Friday, June 26th from 4-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at Holy Trinity Church, Rte. 28 West Harwich on Saturday, June 27th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, East Harwich.
