Richard Eichacker Obituary

Richard Jean Pierre Eichacker, 92, of Lake Road, Portland, husband of the late Helen (Halliday) Eichacker, died Tuesday, (June 26, 2001) at the Chestelm Health & Rehabilitation in Moodus. Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 9, 1908, he was the son of the late Dr. Henry and Edna (Terrell) Eichacker, and had lived in Portland for over 60 years. Mr. Eichacker graduated from Trinity College, Class of 1929. He was owner and president of Portland Roofing Co. from 1955 to 1980. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Portland, member of Masonic Temple, Sphinx Temple, Exchange Club of Portland, and Middletown Elks Lodge #771. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan H.E. and Douglas B. Jackman of Portland; three grandchildren, Steven L. and his wife Jennifer Piasecki, Tyson V. Maly, and Jessica H. Maly; four great grandchildren, Nikolas S. Piasecki, Jason J. Maly, Christopher J. Piasecki, and Sage Halliday Maly; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers and a sister. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in Richard's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main St., Portland, is in charge of arrangements.
