Frank Hubert Obituary

Frank William Reneé Hubert, Jr.
1941-2015
Frank W.R. Hubert, Jr., age 73, passed away on January 12, 2015, in the peace and comfort of his home. He was born on June 11, 1941, in Orange, Texas, the oldest child of Frank W.R. Hubert, Sr. and Mary Julia Glidden. He grew up in Orange and Austin, graduating from Lutcher Stark High School as salutatorian and earning degrees from Rice University and The University of Texas School of Law.
Frank, known affectionately to many of his oldest friends as "Hank," joined the law firm of Baker Botts in 1966 and worked there for 34 years before his retirement. He was a distinguished attorney whose expertise was sought on complex domestic and international oil and gas transactions. He loved Longhorn football, Goode Company barbecue, his farm in Grimes County, and, above all, performing music. His services as a singer and performer were in high demand, and he took (and spread) great joy in expressing himself through song. He especially enjoyed participating in the Houston Bar Association's annual Night Court charitable musical extravaganza. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 34 years, Cynthia K. Hubert. His children Mary Elizabeth Hubert, Frank W.R. Hubert, III, Amy Adair Freund and husband Pat, and Lauri Hubert Hoese, as well as his four grandchildren, Abigail, Hannah, Joshua, and Caleb Freund, remember him with boundless love. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Mary Katherine Grace, and his former wife Cora Vonn "Bonnie" Hubert. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie Beth Hubert. The family extends special thanks to Frank's sister-in-law Cathy Brown and caregiver Ladonnis Morris, both of whom provided tender comfort and expert care during the last days of Frank's life. A private burial will take place at Klein Memorial Park on Friday, January 16. The family invites you to attend the memorial service, which will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Street in Houston, Texas. A celebration of Frank's life will follow in the reception hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Rice University General Annual Fund, Department of Development, MS 81, P.O. Box 1892, Houston, TX, 77251-1892; or to the Movement Disorders Specialty Program, UTHealth, P.O. Box 1321, Houston, TX 77251-1321 (please include "In Memory of Frank Hubert" in the memo line).

I just learned of Frank’s death. I met him through his wife, Cynthia. He was performing around Houston. I loved his performances. I was there for one daughter’s coming out party and one daughter’s wedding. I married and my life moved in another direction. I still remember Frank with respect and affection. That’s why I decided to search for him and Cynthia, I am so sorry to learn of his passing. He rode the crest of the wave many of the years he lived bed!

To Mary Katherine Hubert Grace and Cora Hubert, My feelings and thoughts are with you on Hank Hubert's death. Each of you two women were and still are very important people in my life. Hank's parents were so generous and caring to me to invite me into your home for the Summer of 1962 so I could earn money for Rice. MK, you were so very gracious to have me as your roommate for that summer, as well as very much fun to be around! and Bonnie, I am glad I was at your wedding and got to visit you at the hospital when you had your first baby. We had a long talk before a high school reunion, on the phone, and that conversation was special to me too.
And then at Lamar High School, my son Chris was friends with Frank III. I enjoyed that our special relationships continued for another generation. They had started with my parents and the Dr. Huberts, back when he was the band director. Three generations of close friendships!!

My sincere condolences to the family in your time of grief. As his aunt, I will always remember Hank as the kindest, sweetest person I know. He and his parents would come to our home in Cameron for holidays. Those times were special! I wish I could be there, but my health prevents that from happening. May God bless you all and give you comfort. My love to the family.

My sincere condolences to the family. I will always remember Frank as the attorney who took a chance and hired a young, inexperienced legal secretary in 1974, offering me what I felt was the "chance of a lifetime" at that moment in time. I will always be grateful for that and for the many kindnesses he showed me during the 10 years we worked together. May peace and comfort find you during this difficult time.

Cynthia - My condolences to you and your family. I know this is a difficult time. I am thankful that Frank was able to be at home as he wished. Ruth
