Michelle & Greg Kapitan (for George Kapitan)
June 13, 2025
I have been trying to identify the gentleman on the far right in this image pictured with Doris and Carl Burges and Harry Sahle (Comic Creators) at George Kapitan's wedding 2/19/1950. I posted the photo in a FB group for comics and someone thought it might be Dick. I wonder if anyone an confirm if it is a young Dick Ayers. Much Gratitude (my husband father was George Kapitan and we have been trying to identify him for a few years now). Thank you. ggk454 at gmail

Grandpa,
I am so sorry I cannot be in NY to say goodbye in person. It is times like these that really remind me how hard it can be to live far from family.
I have been thinking of some memories I have with you:
Flying up to see you and having you take me around your work and showing me the Archie Comics you drew.
Letting me play in your art studio at your house.
Sitting at the table in your back porch while you drew a picture of me.
You and Grandma picking raspberries with me in your backyard.
Spending Thanksgiving at your house.
Trips to get real NY Bagels, which I loved.
Taking the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty
Sitting in the living room with you and hearing you tell stories about all that you have seen and experienced throughout your life.
Surprising you and Grandma on her 80th birthday by flying up to NY with your great grandchildren.
I hope we can make you proud. You would love Connor's artwork. He definitely has the Ayers artistic gene that seemed to have skipped me. He has your Hulk picture in his room by his drawing table and he proudly tells his friends that you drew many of their favorite super heroes.
I love you, Grandpa, and miss you.

Hi Lindy, It's Margaret Portsmouth. My husband, Billy, just told me last night that he read in the paper about Dick. I am so sorry.....I cried all night. You and Dick were just like my family as long as I can remember and I know my parents LOVED you both so, so very much.....as did we all. I send you all my love and will deliver the kiss and hug when I see you on Monday. Love always, Margaret xo
