In 1974, I was a student in Mechanical Engineering at NC State. I was fortunate to get a part-time job as a draftsman at L. E. Wooten and Co. I can remember like it was yesterday that my first drawing assignments were "inking" plumbing risers for Norman. As I learned more, he gave me more responsibility to design systems while checking closely that I was "getting it right". He was always meticulous but NEVER overbearing in his review. Eventually, I gravitated to HVAC design and worked more with Norman in coordination. I left Wooten in 1976 and joined the Navy. I came back in 1981, left after two years and returned again in 1997 for about two years. My point being, I've known Norman for a long time. Jon, Brenda, and Cassie, I hope you know what a PROFOUND POSITIVE effect he had on SO many people's lives. Mine among them. He will be greatly missed by many. I wish I had known and wish I had stayed in touch. I am comforted to know that he is with the Lord. I pray that God will comfort you all in this difficult time and remind you when you ask the queation, Why?-that you think about ALL the positive influences that J. Norman Parks left to this world. May God bless and keep you!

Darlene and I were very shocked to hear of Normans passing. He was a wonderful person and a great Civitan. Our prayers go out to you and your family. We did not hear the news until yesterday and could not make the funeral. Please except our apology for not attending.

There are no words that I can say to ease your loss. I am truely sorry for your loss. Norman was a true friend, a kind friend and a good man. I will charish the good memories that we have together and I will miss his wonderful laugh. He liked to laugh.
It was about a year ago when Norman learn that our son was dianosed with a rare cancer. He called me and told me that God has a plan and that I need to keep my faith. I have lived his advice. I do know that Norman and Anthony are now free of pain and this terrible disease. Hopefully they are together laughing and singing.
Brenda, I will keep you and your family in my prayers during this hard time.
