Ralph Waggoner died October 30 in Sparks, Nevada, just three weeks shy of his 105th birthday. Ralph was born November 21, 1909, in Missouri to Ray and Linna Mae Waggoner. His family moved to Roseville, California, (cir. 1912), then to Sparks, Nevada, (cir. 1915), and settled down.
In 1923, at the age of 14, Ralph went to work in the Southern Pacific Railroad Shops. He transferred to engine service, as a fireman, in 1927. Ralph retired after 46 years in engine service.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hildeth, parents Ray and Linna Mae, and sister Mildred.
Ralph is survived by his son Robert C. McGinty (Rose), grandchildren Robert D. McGinty (Celia), Lynn Lawson (Mark), John DeSoto (Gayle); great-grandchildren Brenda, Sean, Mathew, Alison, and Audrey; great-great grandchildren Ryan, Devin, Caleb, Rachel, Elijah, Ezekiel, and Cedar; and great-great-great grandson Korey.
Services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Ross, Burke, and Knoble, 1538 C Street, Sparks.
The family thanks the wonderful staff at the Pond House, Gentiva Hospice, and Comfort Keepers, for the care they gave Ralph.

To Bob and the family, my sincere condolences about the passing of your father. I knew him pretty much all of my life having grown up next door to him in Reno. He was always there to help us on any project at the house. I have fond memories of Hilly too. Remember all of the good times. I am sure he is at the next railroad station.
