KAPLAN - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of John LaBry Jr., 92, who died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services.

John grew up on a farm in Cossinade, LA, just north of what is now Kaplan. At the age of 19 he went off to Italy and France to serve his country in WWII, after serving for approximately 2 years as a high speed radio operator with the 1005th signal service company, he returned home to Kaplan where he has continued to reside for the past 71 years.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rita Euriest Simon LaBry of Kaplan; two sons, John LaBry, III of Boise, ID and Kenneth J. LaBry and his wife, Pamela of Lafayette; one daughter, Margaret LaBry and her husband, Peter Wilby of Lafayette; two sisters, Ella Mae L. Hebert of Kaplan and Linda L. Bordelon of Kaplan; and two grandsons, Zachary A. LaBry of Boulder, CO and Nicholas J. LaBry of Troy, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Daphnis LaBry and the former Angelle Girouard; and his siblings, Gabriel LaBry, Sidney LaBry, Noella LaBry Abshire, Paula LaBry Abshire, Elita LaBry, Rena LaBry Meaux Hebert, Noah LaBry, Ewell LaBry, Lilly LaBry Byler, and Agnes LaBry Deshotels.

The family wishes to thank his care givers, whose assistance allowed him to remain in his home until his passing.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 10 a.m. until services.
