JEAN MOORE Obituary

Jean Moore of Richland passed away on June 17, 2014. Jean was born November 30, 1925 and spent her childhood being raised in Hammond, Indiana. She started college at DePau University and finished her undergraduate work at the University of Washington. She was one of the few females at the time majoring in Chemistry with a focus on Inorganic Chemistry.

She met her future husband, Earl Moore, at the University of Washington who was also completing his undergraduate studies. They married shortly after graduation and moved to W.S.U. for dad to attend Veterinary school. She taught Inorganic Chemistry for a short period at the University until they had their first three children within three years.

Following dad's graduation, they moved to Richland and built The Richland Animal Hospital. Mom raised the family and worked part-time as the bookkeeper at the Hospital. They added another three children for a total of six. Mom was a loving parent who was always the best supporter/cheerleader of her families many sports, 4H, camping, and outdoor activities.

Mom returned to school in the early 70's and obtained her teaching certificate and a Masters. She initially taught Deaf Education at Hanford High and became the 8th grade Science teacher at Carmichael. She never slowed down following retirement as the folks ran and maintained a number of rentals as well as ran their blueberry farm.

Dad predeceased mom three years ago. They truly were "best friends" throughout their lengthy marriage. They travelled extensively around the world during their retirement years and would spend several months in Maui each winter. Summers would include annual salmon and halibut trips to Alaska. During summer months mom would hone her Master Gardener skills which is still apparent to this date.

Mom and dad were hard core "Bomber" sports fans and for many years would attend virtually every football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and track event. Their love of sports spilled over to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mom also had many good friends through the Richland Lutheran Church. The folks also had many close, quality friends both locally and around the Country.

Her family includes her children, Cyd Wallbaum (Dan), Scoot Moore (Cindy), Peter Moore, Don Moore, Cam Moore, Doug Moore, and daughter-in-law Deborah Moore. She was always extremely close, proud and supportive of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jami Prigge (Jason), Sara Frederico (Tom), Carrie Gabbard (Mark), Nathan Wallbaum (Amy), Sean Moore (Karen) and Jason Moore (Brandi). Great-grandchildren: Kyle, Kaleb, and Kaitlyn Prigge, Mia, Cabriella and Luca Federico, Ryan and Lauren Moore, Melissa and Samantha Moore, Emily Gabbard and Zeke Wallbaum.

At mom's request, there will be no funeral. A private family remembrance day will be at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, any memorials can be made to the "Bev Jewell Memorial Foundation" which is our family foundation providing donations to children with medical needs. Mailing address: c/o Peter Moore, P.O. Box 1508, Richland, WA 99352

Rest in peace Mom and enjoy your reunion with dad.
