He had such a bright spirit, positive attitude and anyone on the ship could always count on him to help when it came down to it. I found a christmas story he helped to write during our 1st deployment to persian gulf. I found myself laughing and decided to look him up this is not what i expected to find! I found his name in the uss fox death list. I'll always be proud to call you fellow shipmate and good friend. Godspeed and may the wind always stay at your back bill, Rest in peace!

Dear Dimp,
It's 2015. It's been a tough fight on this road without you. This past month alone has been very, very painful. We saw the first anniversary of your passing, your 48th birthday, and our 25th wedding anniversary. Our families are broken hearted without you and we mourn you everyday. Please know YOU are ALWAYS in our hearts and WILL BE FOREVER! Death certainly is the most final, painful, and irreversible chapter in one's life. I thought I knew what final was, but I didn't. Sadly, I know now. I want to thank you for sharing the beauty of your life with me and giving me the blessing of being your wife and Ash's mom. Our love will ENDURE this test of time!!! I LOVE YOU!!!
Forever your Kittygirl

Dear Kelly and Ashley,
We have such fond memories of the entire Speeg family. We met you several years ago at the Sanford Soapbox Derby track. One of our racers went to the hospital unexpectantly and the Speeg family helped to make sure the little girl could still race, was fed and well cared for.
Bill designed "ERIC" weights for his superstock car. Honestly- Bill just was a giver. He was ALWAYS trying to help another family.
I am so sad. Bill will be missed by so many. Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of a great man, husband and father.

To Kelly and Ashley,
So sorry for your loss. Bill was one of the best. The time he took to help my son Ryan in the SoapBox Derby will never be forgotten. I will always remeber him standing with me at the top of the Hill when Ryan was in the final heat in Akron. He was there to support Ryan and me. He was ALWAYS there for the kids. That takes an extrodinary man, and he was.
He is in our prayers and so are you two and the rest of your family.

On behalf of the Crown Firecoach Enthusiasts club, I would like to express condolences to Kelly and Ashley and all of Bill's family at your loss. Bill was a member of our club and owner of a 1966 Crown Fire Engine with which he participated in events in and around the Escondido and Valley Center area. Bill was always kind, friendly and willing to lend a helping hand. I had many conversations with Bill since I own ex-Orange County Fire Dept 1966 Crown pumper that is a sister fire engine to Bill's from the same order of trucks. I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He will be missed.

I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing. We met in high school in Michigan, and he and I got our first "real" jobs together at the local McDonald's where his Mother also worked. He was a good friend who could always make me laugh. I uploaded a photo of one of the last times I saw Bill, guessing it was Christmas of '85 or '86 when he was home from the Navy and I was home from college (he had more hair back then, but the same smile).

Kelly & Ashley,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Bill was truly an amazing man. I always looked forward to talking with him when you came to Akron each year. What a huge personality! ...and always a smile on his face. I remember him all excited a few years back, telling me how he was sending Ashley to a fancy hair salon for a celebrity haircut. He was so thrilled to do something special for her. What a great dad he was. He will definitely be missed.

To Bill's family: I met Bill in high school in Michigan, and we shared many fun times together. Bill was such a funny, light-hearted, easy-going spirit. He never met a stranger, it seemed. We lost touch after high school but I never forgot about him. Just reading about his accomplishments is awe-inspiring. Looking at his picture I can't help but respond to that genuine smile. It's that smile that I remember most. Bill was cherished and I'm sending all my love to his family; I'm so very sorry for your loss and I pray for each of you to be comforted by all the wonderful memories of your own and those shared by others.

Dear Kelly and Ashley , we will truly miss Bill and his love for derby racing. What stands out for Ryan And I is every time we would see Bill he had a smile on his face and always a great attitude about him. We are so sadden over this and will miss him so much as it is our last year going to Akron, Ohio and we won't have Bill to load Ryan and Nicole on the starting ramp. Our love and prayers to you and your family. Love Terry Ryan And Nicole.

Just wanted to send my deepest condolences and prayers. I went to school with Bill at Bedford. We wrestled and were in the school variety show together. I have great memories of Bill and his passing is very saddening. I had always hoped he'd make it to a reunion and often heard his name mentioned among our classmates. Although we lost contact after school I considered us friends. In every picture I see his smile, and the happiness he had, and that's how I remember of my friend..

To the family of Bill Speeg,
I am so sad to read of Bill's passing, and I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. My name is Matt Feldpausch from Michigan. I had the privilege of meeting Bill at the AASBD in Akron, OH several years back, at least as far back as 2007 when my brother Andrew won the All-American. Since then, I always crossed paths with Bill every year in Akron. There are a lot of great volunteers at the derby every year, but he is one that always stuck out to me. I don't know if I can adequately describe all the great qualities he demonstrated to my family and all the other derby families! Bill had a great spirit about him, he showed respect, was always helpful, kept the atmosphere positive, and showed he truly cared! I only got to see Bill once a year, but I feel like I lost a friend and will truly miss him! Thanks for sharing a great servant with all of us derby families!
Sincerely,
Matt Feldpausch
