William Marchiondo C., 87, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, two sisters, and his daughter, Barbara Stafford. He is survived by Margaret Marchiondo; his two sons, William E. and Philip; his grandsons, Jason and Dominic; his granddaughters, Ashley and Isabella; his sister, Carlina Moore; and innumerable nieces and nephews.

Bill was born in Raton, NM, the youngest child of Tony and Anna Marchiondo, who were Italian immigrants. He was very proud of his heritage and family was always of utmost importance to him. He and all six of his brothers served in the Armed Forces during World War II. Following his service in the United States Navy, he enrolled at UNM and graduated from UNM Law School in 1952. During his 63 continuous years of practicing law, he appeared in both state and federal courts throughout the United States. He was a preeminent criminal defense attorney whose word was his bond. He also mentored (in his own inimitable way), the many attorneys who worked for his firm. His first published appellate case appeared in the NM Reports in 1956 followed by an additional 221 cases in the next 60 years. He was exceptionally proud of his contributions to grand jury jurisprudence. For the past few years, Mr. Marchiondo has been conducting settlement facilitations and mediations for the courts and attorneys. At least 95% of those cases were settled due to his skill and persuasive arguments.

Through the years, he was president of the Young Democrats, and The UNM Lobo Club. He was also a member of the American Bar Association, New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, Albuquerque Bar Association, New Mexico Criminal Defense

Attorneys Association, Inns of Court, One Hundred Club, Immaculate Conception Church, and Albuquerque Country Club. In 2004 he was the subject of the annual roast by the Albuquerque Bar Association. In 2005 he was inducted into the Joe Roehl Circle of Honor and in October 2014, he was honored by the UNM Law School with a Distinguished Achievement Award.

He was also proud to be a co-founder in 2001 of the Cohen - Marchiondo Charitable Foundation (Co-Mar) whose primary purpose is to provide full scholarships to New Mexico colleges and universities to students diagnosed with mental disorders.

Bill was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by friends from all walks of life, all across the country.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 601 Copper NW. Mass will be observed Monday, March 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will take place in Raton, NM. Pallbearers are William E., Philip L., Jason, David, and Julio Marchiondo, and Michael Scarselli.
