Carlos Chavez Obituary
Carlos Gene Chavez, age 62, lifelong resident of his beloved Atrisco community in Albuquerque, NM, was called to be with Our Lord, Sunday, October 30, 2016.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife, June, of 39 years; his children, Meagan, Francisco and wife, Isabel, and Carlos Eugenio and wife, Amanda; six grandchildren, Analise, Juliet, Francisco Andres, Lilliana, Alejandra, and Austin Gene; his mother, Melinda (Antonia) Chavez; mother-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many countless extended family and friends.
Carlos was preceded in death by his father, Eugenio Chavez; and brother, Charles. Carlos was known for the love he had for his family, kindness, and generosity. As a retired educator of 35 years he dedicated his life to teaching the children of New Mexico.
A celebration of his life will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, Friday, November 4, 2016 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m.; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pierre Joseph Arrossa, Fernando Brambila, Owen Chavez, Carlos Cruz, Benjamin Cruz, Rubel Jaramillo, Larry Tapia II, Mark Anthony Sanchez, Mark Sanchez Jr. and Michael Ross Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Carmen V. Garcia, Larry Tapia Sr., Eddie Cruz, Ross Sanchez, Pierre Arrossa, Vincent (Bud) Chavez, Bruce Chavez, Juan Saavedra, Robert Sanchez, Fabian Montano Jr., Jerry Lujan, Rudy Lujan, and Robert Cisneros. We're coming up on a year next month since you've been gone and I still wait for you to come in the door and listen for your voice. I and the children miss you desperately and totally. But we are your family; we are Chávez, and we are strong. Because there is nowhere we could go where you are not with us. I love you my Darling...till we see each other again.

Surprised and very sad to learn Carlos has passed away. It was my pleasure to know him when he was the Bilingual Chair at Rio Grande the students were always his priority.
