Richard Rapp Obituary

Richard H. Rapp, age 80, died peacefully at home on June 28, 2013 in Anchorage, Alaska. He was born in Minnesota on August 14, 1932 and has resided in Anchorage since 1952.

Dick began working in real estate in the late 60's and moved into commercial real estate land development at Area Realty and Tudor Centre Realty. He retired in 2006 after developing many projects including the downtown business district in Eagle River and Tudor Centre, home of the Alaska Native Medical Center campus.

Dick was a strong man in every way, completely devoted to his family and wife of sixty years. At work and at play he outhustled and outlasted everyone. He also had a gift for teaching; whether sharing the best method for installing tile or the technique of water skiing he patiently passed on his expertise to all willing pupils. His physical strength was matched by a solid moral compass and an unfailing faith in God. His Wednesday bible study group will miss his great questions and unshakable gratitude for all God entrusted to him.

Dick is survived by his wife, Marlene Rapp, of Anchorage; sons, Ric Rapp and Scott Rapp, both of Anchorage; daughter, Holly Beach, of Anchorage; daughter-in-law and wife of Scott, Kimberly Rapp; brothers, Gene Rapp of Anchorage and Jerry Rapp of Minnesota; grandsons, Gregory Rapp, David Beach and Cody Beach; granddaughters, Jaime Rapp, Stephanie Rapp, Kylie Briles, and Ashley Beach; and great grandson, Jordan Briles. Dick was preceded in death by his son Steve Rapp.

A memorial service will be held at Central Lutheran Church in Anchorage, where he was a member and past president for over sixty years, on Tuesday, July 2, at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Ron Martinson will officiate.

The family would like to thank Providence Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Providence Hospice, Alaska Diabetes Association's Camp K for Kids, or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are with Janssen Funeral Homes.

Marlene, Ric, Holly and Scott - I have such fond memories of you all and your family growing up in Alaska. I think of you often and send silent hugs and love when I do. I admired your Dad and family so much! I'd love to see you all during one of my yearly Alaska family visits. Scott, I remember French class, (and how I struggled!) Couldn't have done it without you ;-) and Holly, what can I say? We were like sisters! Ric, you are so strong! I would love to catch up with you. Marlene, I wish you peace and strength. My heart goes out to you all. Until I see you next... BIG love to you all. Fondly, Judy Grubba Goldsworthy
