Betty McCullough Obituary

Betty Lou Pratt McCullough died in Vancouver, Wash., after many years battling Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Blount County, Ala. After high school, she attended Alabama College for Women in Montevallo, Ala.; Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.; and Illinois Southern University. Betty and Don, church and high school friends, eloped to Rising Fawn, Ga., in 1949. When Don was recalled to active duty in the Korean War, Betty kept the home fires burning. After Don retired from serving our country and entered the pastoral ministry, Betty was the gracious lady at the parsonage and would quickly prepare a delicious meal when her husband brought visitors to services for dinner. Mourning the loss of their loved one is Don, her husband of husband of 67 years; children and spouses, Carol (Mark) Heirigs, Barbara (Chas) Chasteen and Donald Russell (Tammy) McCullough; granddaughter, Stephanie Heirigs; and sisters, Georgellen Henson and Ann Scoggins. A private funeral and burial were held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Arrangements were entrusted to Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
