Dalton Riggs Obituary

Dalton Lee Riggs, 24, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015, in Big Lake, Alaska. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Anchorage Moose Lodge 4211 Arctic Blvd., Anchorage, Alaska. Dalton was born on June 5, 1991, in Anchorage to Maxey and Andrea Riggs. He was a 2010 graduate of Service High School and attended both Carroll College in Helena, Mont., and the University of Alaska Anchorage. He lived in Alaska from birth and enjoyed the life Alaska brought with snowmachining, snowboarding and riding his motorcycle every summer. Dalton was an artist, enjoyed song writing and putting words together as a poet. He was always a successful athlete in football, running and weight lifting. He worked for his family business, Riggs Towing and Recovery, and was also previously employed with Century Inspection, Mad Hatter and Hilltop Ski Area. On Saturday, July 11, 2015, an amazing person was taken from us. Dalton Lee Riggs was a very special soul. He was very passionate and wore his heart on his sleeves. Most would say that he had the most contagious smile and laugh. He was always the life of the party and lit up the room with his presence. Dalton had an enormous desire for pit-bulls, which he was raised around his entire life. Dalton was a very affectionate person that loved his family more than anything, his girlfriend, Cierra and his dogs with all his heart. When it comes to his family, his mother was his biggest idol; you definitely could not deny the bond they shared. Dalton's father, Maxey, taught him so many things in life that he always carried in his heart and shared a lot of the same qualities, most of which made Dalton into the man he grew up to be. His brother, Josh, was the one person he looked up to more than anyone. Their relationship was the true definition of brotherhood. If you had the chance to meet Dalton, then you'd know that he was definitely one of a kind. He will surely be missed. Dalton loved his family very much. He is survived by his parents, Maxey Riggs III and Andrea Riggs; brother, Joshua Riggs; paternal grandparents, Maxey Riggs Jr. of College Station, Texas, and Sherry Maxwell of Anchorage; and maternal grandmother, Diane Seitz of Engle Point, Ore.; great-grandparents, Jimmy Lassen of Sugar Land, Texas, and Jean Bilson of Plano, Texas; uncle, Robert Riggs of Anchorage and his children, Cody Riggs of Anchorage and Natasha Riggs of Whittier, Alaska; uncle, Brian Seitz of Anchorage and his children, Erin Seitz of Portland, Ore., and Andrew Seitz of Anchorage; and uncle, Dana Seitz of Richmond, Wash., and his children, Tucker Seitz of Missoula, Mont., and Cody Seitz of the U.S. Navy in Virginia. I know Dalton's brother Josh was Dalton's bestest friend, Josh, be assured our protector up above needed an enormous angel in Heaven to perform miracles here on earth. Dalton is that angel. Josh, be assured he is performing those miracles for mankind and those so, so many pit bulls who are in need of those very same miracles that only Dalton can provide. Godspeed my friend, and if you ever need anything please do not hesitate to ask. Thousands of prayers to you and your family.

And although I hate today that you aren't here, it's still one day closer to being able to see u again. Rest easy sweetie love u forever! xoxo
