Doris Fletcher Obituary

Doris M. Fletcher, 96, of Albany, Ore., died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at her home.

Doris was born in Shedd, Ore., the daughter of Elmer and Marsha (Cornet) Margason. She spent most of her life in Albany and enjoyed the outdoors. In 1953, she was the Northwest Pope and Young state archery champion.

On Oct. 9, 1938, Doris married Raymond C. Fletcher in Yachats. He preceded her in death.

For 10 years, Doris worked at Payless Drug Store. She lived in Alaska for a few years and in Mexico in 1977 before moving back to Albany. In 1978 she started SprayFoam Inc., and was the CEO and bookkeeper.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 10. Doris was still driving her car until one year ago.

She is survived by her children, Steve Fletcher of Albany and Rae Maness of Anchorage; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Don Margason of Albany; and sister, June Phinny of California.

A reception will be at 1 p.m. July 16, 2011, at Shedd Cafe in Shedd.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Doris Fletcher Memorial Account at any Wells Fargo.
