Irene Kompkoff Obituary

Tatitlek resident Irene Jennie Kompkoff, 72, passed away at the Cordova Community Medical Center on April 22, 2011.

A viewing will be today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Village Gospel Chapel in Tatitlek. She will be buried in the Tatitlek Cemetery.

Irene's family invites you to attend a potluck in Tatitlek after her memorial service, to celebrate her life and share the precious memories you created with her.

Irene was born in 1939 in Tatitlek to George and Jennie Vlasoff.

She married Jack Kompkoff Sr. in September 1956.

Irene's interests included knitting, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, berry picking, cooking, baking and cake decorating. Her true passion lay within her family; she devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her siblings, nieces and nephews.

Irene had an unbreakable faith in the Lord and was a true inspiration, offering hope and comfort to many. She respected everyone she knew and was always willing to lend a helping hand. People sought her advice, which she gladly gave. Her mere presence provided peace and tranquility to even the most somber spirits. Irene will be remembered for her unconditional love, compassion, kindness and wisdom.

Irene is survived by her husband, Jack; children, Loretta, Ricky, Annette and Matthew; grandchildren, Wayne, Deserae, Ricky Jr., Christian, Kristopher and Isaiah; great-grandson, Benjamin; siblings, Anne, Virginia and Kenneth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her children, Jack Jr. and Cheryl; parents, George and Jennie; and siblings, Paul, Sam, Mary, Fred Sr., Dorene, Corene and Myra.

To Ricky, Annette, Matthew and Loretta, I am sooo sorry, I just found out today around 6:00pm. If I known sooner, I would of been there at the funeral home for you all. She was like a mother to me during school, etc. I know what you are going through, this is hard, know one can take the pain away. Just remember the lord is with you. My family sends our loves and prayers to you and your family. I don't have any phone numbers, or I would call. Take care, love you all, Steena and the Oliver family.
