Joan Roberts

Joan Roberts of Chugiak, also known as "Mama" by her husband, "My Universe," by her great-granddaughter Kenyada and "Sista," by her siblings, died March 30, 2011, at Providence Extended Care Center after battling a long illness.

A celebration of life will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the House of Prayer, 300 Klevin St. A funeral service will be at noon Tuesday at Eagle River Missionary Baptist Church, 16050 Lesmer Court, with visitation from 10 a.m.-noon. Rev. Dr. William Greene will officiate. Come out and celebrate her life with us.

Mrs. Roberts was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Centerville, Miss., to proud parents Eli and Phyllis Seaberry.

She met RC Roberts in Anchorage and they wed on Oct. 4, 1970. Together they raised four generations of children. She was a member of Eagle River Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, RC Roberts; children, Victoria Waters and George Lee Hart, both of Anchorage; grandchildren, Kim Waters, Olinda Brown and Orlando Brown, all of Anchorage, Kai Robinson, formerly of Anchorage; great-grandchildren Kenyada Waters, Silvannia Waters, Tashannia Waters, Eric Waters, Sheldon Macon, Levelle Papillion, Lorenzo Brown, Kesha Brown, Orlandus Brown, Lesa Dawn Robinson, all of Anchorage; and a host of great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her father and mother, Eli and Phyllis Seaberry; son, Bill Hart; grandson, Leneal Waters Jr.; great-granddaughter, Ajia Matthews; and brothers, Ford, Virece, Julius, Oveat, Henry and William Seaberry.
