Michelle Zenor Obituary

Michelle Anne Zenor, 64, passed away on January 2, 2013. Michelle worked for the State of Alaska for over 25 years. She retired August 1st, 2012 from the Dept. of Transportation and previously worked for State Parks. For a number of years she also worked part-time for Providence Extended Care. She moved to Alaska in 1971 and lived in Sitka and Palmer before moving to Anchorage about 20 years ago.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kari and Mike Miles, daughter and son-in-law Kim and Brandon Cotter; grandchildren Tate Miles and Elsa Cotter; sister Jean Cunningham and brothers Jim and Tom Cunningham; and many, many friends around the country. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Michelle always had a song to sing and loved her experiences and friendships with Sweet Adeline's Top of the World Chorus. Her skills at quilting are keeping many of her family and friends nice and warm. Planning trips, especially to warm beaches brought her much joy:she loved the warmth of the sun and snorkelling with her turtles.

Michelle was always smiling and had an endlessly positive outlook. On her last day on earth, she was surrounded by love and light from her daughters and close friends. We are all comforted knowing she is with the angels she so avidly believed in. Her melodic voice is, without a doubt, a welcome addition to the heavenly choir.

Her ashes will be scattered at one of her favorite beaches.

There will be a celebration gathering at the Bayshore Clubhouse on Wednesday, January 9th at 7 p.m.

Donations are welcome to a charity of your choice.

Kari and Kim, I was shocked to hear about your mothers passing. She was always fun and we laughed together. We knew each other before we met in Alaska. It all began in MN with horses way back then. She will be so missed in my heart.

Michelle was always the first light you saw when entering the "ANNEX" for many years. She was always happy and very talented. I am sorry to hear about her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Losing her at such a young age when she just began her second life journey. I guess she changed the journey on her terms.

Kari, Kim and families.....I will miss her so much. Michelle and I had some fun times and talked often. We travelled and roomed together and she had visited Chuck & me last January for two weeks in Arizona. We cannot be at the Memorial but we know she will be watching from above and loving everyone. Hugs to all, Nora & Chuck Inman

Dear Kim, Brandon,Kari,Mike,Tate and Elsa, Michelle and I met over the phone when Elsa was on her way. We connected over our mutual love for our children and grandchildren. We were given the gift of motherhood, and we spent many conversations laughing at our ineptness at figuring out what the heck we were doing! But grandmotherhood...now that's a different story. It was a blast for both of us, sharing Elsa, and for me hearing the wonders of Tate! She rolled up her sleeves and pitched in to help with Devlin's wedding and we laughed about that, as well as figuring out how to use a GPS. I miss her but that's the price I paid for getting to know her...and you...and it was a fair deal.I love the picture you chose for this obituary, because that smile and laughter will be how I will remember her. Love and tears, Gerri

Michelle's family,
It was my honor to have sang with your Mom. She will be a great addition to the "Heavenly Chorus". I also have a wall quilt hanging that came to me, which she made, as a secret sister gift many years ago. God bless you in your time of sorrow.

Kari & Kim,
It is with great sadness that I learn of your Mom's passing. She was so young. It took me completely by surprise. She and I had many good times and lots of laughs during our Sitka and Palmer years. She loved you girls so much and her Christmas letters reflected that feeling when telling me about all the events of that particular year. Our prayers are with you and your families at this difficult time.
