Dennis was born and raised in Glendale, Calif. Dennis attended college at Cal Western in San Diego, Calif., and received his Masters of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology. Dennis married his wife, Susie, and in 1977 they moved to Alaska. Dennis served as a United Methodist pastor and as Conference Superintendent until 2009. He and Susie retired to La Verne, Calif., to be near their families. Dennis was committed to his family and his church, and he loved the outdoors - backpacking, biking, hiking and running. Dennis is survived by his wife, Susie; his son, Todd and family in north Tahoe, Calif.; his son, Blake and family in Seattle, Wash.; and his brother, Dick Holway and family of Palm Springs and Glendale, Calif. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Claremont United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Dennis ashes will be scattered in Psalm Lake at Camp Birchwood in Alaska in October.
