Hatchell
(1928 - 2015)
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Mrs. Margaret Hatchell died on February 13th with her children at her side.
She was a native of the former Ellenton, SC, and enjoyed the annual reunions of the residents of the town which was acquired for the building of the Savannah River Plant. She made North Augusta her home for over 50 years, where she and her family were members of Grace United Methodist Church.
Recently, she has lived with her children, Angela and Bruce. She obtained an accounting degree from the University of South Carolina, took time off from work to raise children, and then worked at Fort Gordon for over 20 years, at the Foreign Liaison office, and then at the Treasurer's office at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center. She retired in 1998. In her retirement, she enjoyed visiting with her family, lunching with her former workmates, knitting, and crossword puzzles. She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert Roney and Oveda Phillips Harden,husband, Motte Hatchell Jr., her brother Robert "Bob" Harden, and her sister Jeanette Dicks.
Survivors include: brother Herbert P. "Jack" Harden and his wife Joyce (North Charleston, SC); daughter Angela Miller and her husband Ed (Columbus,IN), and their daughters Ashley and Anna; daughter Brenda Newberry and her husband Gary (Cincinnati, OH), and Gary's children Mary and Michael; son Motte Hatchell, III and his wife Bonnie Urquhart (Readfield, ME) and their children Victoria and Andrew; son Bruce Hatchell and his wife Cindy (Waxhaw, NC), and their daughters Brianna, Sophia, and Christina; niece Pamela Rawlinson (North Augusta, SC) with whom she lived for a time; sister-in-law Betty Hatchell and her family; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
A celebration of life is being planned in North Augusta. Please visit www.jewellrittman.com for details on the celebration as they become available, and to sign the guestbook or share life stories. She will be memorialized at Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta.
