L.E. Walls Obituary

L.E. Walls, 82, was beautifully called home by our Lord and Savior on Dec. 18, 2014.

He was born on June 4, 1932, to Larkin Enoch Walls and Mary Estell Teague in Athens, Texas. He was raised in Hobbs where he graduated from Hobbs High School. In January 1951, he married Angelous Smith in Sacramento. Shortly after their marriage, L.E. joined the Army proudly serving in the Korean War and was also stationed in Thule, Greenland.
Upon his return home the couple moved to Artesia where they raised their two daughters Marlisa and Linda. L.E.'s honor and integrity showed in his success as an Insurance Adjuster. He owned and operated Southwestern Claim Service for over 25 years where he made many friends and touched the lives of all who knew him. L.E. and Angie were faithful members at Trinity Temple Assembly of God where they shared their devotion and love for Christ until her passing in 1994.
On Jan. 20, 1996, God blessed the two families by joining L.E. Walls and Shirley Rogers where they vowed to walk the last mile together. L.E. became known as Poppi, to her children-Kim, Bill, Sabra, Galan and Rachael.
L.E. retired in 1998, and the couple saw a dream come true when they moved to Sixteen Springs Canyon. During their time there, L.E. served as fire chief of the Sixteen Springs Canyon Fire Department, and as in all places they lived, they ministered, befriended and blessed many lives.
In 2001 they moved to La Luz, where they were devout members of the Tularosa Community Church. They spent the next 12 years surrounded and loved by their many friends and close family members as they walked their last mile together.

L.E. was preceded in death by his father, Larkin Enoch; his mother, Mary Estell Teague; his sisters, Betty June Willis and Cleo Russell; his wife, Angie Walls, and wife, Shirley Walls.

He is survived by his daughters Marlisa (Walls) Bevers of Roswell, and Linda (Walls) Lopez married to Johnny Lopez of Artesia; daughter, Kim (McLurg) Evans married to Paul Evans of Artesia; son, Bill McLurg married to Misti (Ironmonger) McLurg of Alamogordo; daughter Rachael (Roach) Lucero married to David Lucero Jr. of La Luz; son Galan Roach of Denver Colo.; daughter Sabra (Roach) Gonzales married to Doty Gonzales of Rio Rancho; sisters, Fay Hoffard, and Mary Jean Click.
L.E. is also survived and loved by 16 grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The honoring of his life will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at Tularosa Community Church, with Pastor Randy Borror officiating at L.E.'s memorial.
A graveside service will follow that afternoon at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia at 1:30 p.m., with Brother Bobby Argo of Trinity Temple Assembly of God officiating at his burial.

The Walls family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
