Wesley Ray DaBell, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2016 in his home from cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Wes was born November 19, 1944, to Luella Hendricks and Wayne Eldon DaBell. As a young boy he grew up in Grant, Idaho. Wes loved playing cowboy jungle, army jungle, and Tarzan jungle, along the Burgess Canal.
Wes's Mother passed away when he was at the tender age of 12. Throughout his life, he always loved sharing stories or phrases about his Mom. His father later married lovely Leola Cutforth Draper and Wes instantly had two additional siblings, with two more to come. The blossoming family, together made a new home in Moreland, Idaho.
He worked on the family farm after school and graduated from Snake River High School in 1963. He enjoyed a variety of sports in high school and excelled in wrestling. Inspired by an amazing Seminary Teacher, Brother Waite, Wes chose to serve a two and a half year LDS mission in South Germany and Switzerland. A year after returning from his mission, he married his childhood sweetheart, Diana Ruth Hunter in the Idaho Falls Temple on September 5, 1967. They graduated from BYU Provo and then moved to West Lafayette, Indiana where Wes was awarded a full ride scholarship and earned a Master's Degree at Purdue University in Animal Nutrition.
After working at Worley Mills in Clovis, New Mexico, Wes and Diana, joined his father-in-law, Reed Hunter, in running the family farm. Lewisville became home where Wes and Diana raised their four children. Through the years, he also farmed in Hamer and Osgood.
Wes loved people, his real passion. This love lead to other occupational interests. He sold insurance and ultimately started a very successful pest control business, Spider-man Pest Control, which his son is now running. Wes truly loved helping many people exterminate the 8 legged villains. His smile was infectious and instrumental in growing his business and creating lifelong friendships.
Wes was hard working, dependable and determined. He never used the words "I can't," or "It's too hard," or "Let's just hire someone else." He could do anything.
His 17 grandchildren cherished their Papa. He loved his family more than anything else, and they were always a priority. He would happily travel the globe to cheer at their events.
Wes was dedicated to serving as Bishop and his many leadership and teaching positions in the LDS church and at BYU-Idaho. He loved the youth, and they like-wise truly enjoyed his humor and wisdom.
Our family's faith in Jesus Christ and eternal families is strong. We know our separation will be brief. In the meantime, we will strive to live the ideals our Dad, Papa, friend, uncle, neighbor, son, brother, and husband exemplified each day of his magnificent life. Papa, we will aim to be kind and find a way to serve others each chance we get; always leaving others with a genuine compliment, a huge smile, and a twinkle in our eye.
Wes is survived by his wife Diana DaBell of Lewisville, his 3 daughters Jennifer (Jason) South of Menan, Idaho; Natalie (Rusty) McWhorter of Rexburg, Idaho;  Brittany (Spencer) Holt of London, England; and son Jeff (Misti) DaBell of Rigby, Idaho and 17 grandchildren. His step-mother Leola DaBell of Moreland, Idaho; sisters: Marlene (Bob) Rhead of Meridian, Idaho; Vonnie Lue (Dick) Broulim of Rigby, Idaho; Karen (Layne) Van-Orden of Moreland, Idaho; and Jackie (Rich) Leonardsen of Shelley, Idaho; brothers Bruce (Linda) Draper of Sandy, Utah and Todd (D'Ann) DaBell of Farmington, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne DaBell & Luella Hendricks DaBell and older brother Daryl DaBell.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 6 at the Lewisville LDS Chapel, 101 East Main Street in Lewisville, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at the Lewisville Church and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church prior to Saturday's services. Interment will be at The Lewisville Cemetery.
Our heartfelt thanks to Teton Oncology, the many dedicated doctors and nurses at EIRMC, Mountain View, Hands of Hope and Solace Hospice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.

I had the privilege of serving with Wes on campus under the direction of President Thueson.
After that, we had many opportunities to visit when he came to either help us with bugs, or computer issues at our business.

Wes was a great and kind friend. He always had a smile and a story to make me smile.

I appreciated so much the person that he is. He just was so kind, and caring about everyone.

I pray for his wonderful family. They are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so very thankful for Wes!
He was and is an amazing example of greatness and love!
