Guy Traylor Obituary

Funeral services for Guy Traylor, 85, of Woodland, will be held today, August 1, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel of Wedowee with the Rev. David Daniel and the Rev. Roger Woodard officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Traylor passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Janie Gross Traylor, of Woodland; one son, Tommy ( Debbie) Traylor, of Woodland; three grandchildren, Morgan Traylor, Tray Traylor and Nancy (Travis) Heard. Pallbearers will be Larry Morrison, Phil McGuire, Travis Heard, Ronnie Young, Fred Lovvorn, Carl Perkins, Ben Wilson and Larry Roughton. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Benefield and Gene Southerland. Mr. Traylor was born July 24, 1926 the son of Jeff and Aline Heard Traylor. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He was a teacher/principal in the Randolph County School System for 10 years. And he was retired from the United States Postal Service as post master at Woodland serving for 24 years. He was a devoted member of Zion Baptist Church serving as Deacon for 39 years and church clerk for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ann (Bobby) McGuire. The family suggest in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 23123 Highway 48, Woodland, Alabama 36280.
