Phillip C. Onstad

AGE: 81 • Edison

Phillip C. Onstad, 81, of Edison, passed away Friday June 1, 2012 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in Edgerton, WI, he was raised in Cambridge, WI before moving to Edison in 1965. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Before retiring, Phillip was a Lobbyist for International Communication Policy in Washington, D.C. He was a Eucharistic Minister for JFK Medical Center, Edison and Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Plainfield. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Phyllis (nee Sacco) Onstad; children Laura and Dave Scinto of Florham Park, Peter Onstad of Metuchen, Jenny and Scott Fischbein of Edison; grandchildren Kylea Onstad, Britnee Onstad, Cory Onstad, Jillian Onstad, Stephanie Fischbein, Joshua Fischbein and Sarah Fischbein.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:45 a.m. at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt27) Metuchen (costello-runyon.com) followed by a 10:15 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. Visitation is Monday 2-4 and 7-9. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pastoral Ministry @ JFK, 65 James St., Edison, NJ 08820

Our deepest condolences to Phillip's family. We are deeply grateful that we were able to visit him in April during our road trip to the East Coast. Althought we didn't see him often over the years, we enjoyed his company whenever we got the opportunity. Rest in peace.
