AGE: 80 • Toms River

Harold Book, age 80, of Toms River, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Shorrock Gardens Care Center in Brick, NJ. Harold was a Remedial Math and Reading Specialist for Hazlet Board of Education for almost 40 years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a published poet. Harold was an avid fan and caller of the Bob Levy Radio Show. He was always joking and everyone who knew him will always remember his pleasant smile and kind words. Harold loved his family and adored his grandchildren. His family loved and adored him, as did his caregivers.

Harold was predeceased by his son, Alan Book. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his daughters, Jennifer Longo and her husband Bruce, and Gayle Slavick and her boyfriend Jim; his brother, David Book; his sister, Ann Jaiven; and his grandchildren, Alexis Longo, Gillian Slavick, Ty Slavick, and Andrew Book.

Visitation will be Friday, March 23, 2012, from Noon until the service at 1:00 PM at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Burial will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org in Harold's memory.
