AGE: 87 • Jackson
Leonard Aloysius Petersen, 87, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016. He was born in Queens, NY, and resided in the West Lake community of Jackson Twp., for the past 16 years.
Leonard retired in 1995 as a Vice President for Skanska, Maspeth, NY, after 43 years of service.
He was predeceased by his Parents, Milton and Veronica Petersen. He is survived by his Wife of 59 years, Ellen Petersen; his Son, Brian; his Daughter, Susan and her Husband, Robert; his Grandchildren, Andy, Lauren, Daniel, Michael, and Kevin; and by his Great grandchildren, Sean and Seamus.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, June 12, 2016, from 1-5 PM at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered on Monday, June 13, 2016, at 8:30 AM at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A private cremation will follow.
If so desired, contributions can be made in Leonard's memory to Manhattan College, Development Office, 4513 Manhattan College Parkway, Riverdale, NY 10471 and would be greatly appreciated. The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
