AGE: 55 • Parlin
Alan W. Jankowski, 55 of Parlin passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017.
Born in Perth Amboy, Alan was a longtime resident of Parlin. Alan enjoyed photography, music and classic cars and was the author of "I Often Wonder." Alan had many friends whom he kept in touch with on Facebook; he will be deeply missed.
Alan was predeceased by his step-father, Raymond Duzick and his longtime companion, Dana Best. Surviving are Alan's father, Walter Jankowski and his wife Maryann and mother, Eleanor Duzick along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will begin at 10:45am on Friday, March 17, 2017 at GERITY & CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 411 Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge followed by interment at Hazelwood Cemetery in Colonia. The family will begin to receive friends at 10am.
Visitation will be held on Alan's birthday, Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodbridge Animal Group, 195 Woodbridge Avenue, Sewaren, NJ 07077.

It's seems like it was only yesterday I spoke with you, but time has passed and I often wonder what would Alan say or do. I always remember your fearless way of looking at life. I hope I one day can stand as fearless as you. You touched so many lives and probably never knew it. You won't be forgotten that easily my friend. Until we meet again.

Alan is the only person I know who has left many hearts with a deep emptiness. Many I know had a connection with Alan. Many have said how they wished they had met him. He truly touched many of us in so many ways and there isn't a day that passes without the mention of Alan. He will always be a legend to many of us, never to be forgotten.

There are those that come into our lives in the oddest ways, Alan was one. He became my knight in shiny armor . I met him on a poetry site where I decided to share one of my poems. I was soon attacked by one member, but Alan and another poet stepped in and defended me. If not for him I would never have the courage to continue in my writings. I owe him all my respect and love. He is dearly missed.

Safe Journey my dear friend.
Alan was a great and wonderful person that will be missed by me as well as many others. There can be no words to express the heart break of hearing of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.

My deepest condolences to the family. Alan was kind and generous with his expertise, always willing to help other writers. His humor brightened many days. Although we never met in person, he was more than an online friend to me he was a friend, period, no qualifier needed. I will miss him tremendously.

Alan was a man who brought laughter and smiles into some of my darkest days. I never think of "Fred" without a wry smile now. Alan has left us part of his heart and soul in both the words he wrote, and in his character now imprinted in our own hearts. He will always be with us, alive in memory and spirit.

Alan was the funniest, smartest, quippiest man I have had the pleasure of being in company with. His brain never stopped working in mysterious ways, always thinking of unique and exciting angles to every situation. He was a special breed of hippie, one of the good ones left who combined classic with original. He was almost steam punk, in that he combined the eras and brought something new to the scene every time, and to our hearts. I knew Alan when we were both on sabbaticals from life, but he still was full of it and it was contagious. I really can't believe he is gone... It hurts that such a spark went out... Condolences to his family and loved ones. Hope to see him again. <3
