Louise W. Beinert Salva

Louise W. Beinert Salva, 92. Born March 18, 1919 in Staten Island, N.Y., passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, in Peoria, Ariz. Her passing, as a result of a long battle with illness, was preceded by her husband of 43 years, Joseph D. Salva in 1987; and her twin sister, Henrietta C. Demarest in 2005, as well as two older sisters, Amelia and Beatrice. She is survived by her daughter, Louise Bishop and her husband Donn of Arizona; her son, Bill and his wife Linda of New York; her son, David and his wife Jean of Texas. In addition, she has four grandchildren, Glenn Bishop, Jill Burton, David Lee Salva, and Daniel Joseph Salva; and two great-grandchildren.
Louise had been a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stapleton, and was a graduate of Public School 14 in Stapleton and of Curtis High School in St. George, Staten Island. Louise met her husband, Joseph while working at Western Union Telegraph Company in Manhattan during WWII and she and Joe settled in Staten Island, N.Y. after their marriage in 1944. Louise was a full-time homemaker for many years, but was also very active in her children's participation in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, including serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother for numerous years in the 1960's. She also worked part time for a few years at F.W. Woolworths in Stapleton, Staten Island prior to retiring with her husband in 1972. On retiring and moving to Mystic Islands, N.J., she continued her active community and volunteer work with various organizations, including the Tuckerton Library, Deborah Hospital, MICA Club, Fif-Chicks, and the Italian and Polish American social clubs, Tuckerton First Aid Squad, Southern Ocean County Hospital and Issaquah, WA Valley Seniors among others. Louise enjoyed a long and active retirement by the sea where she enjoyed swimming and crabbing from her back dock, painting seascapes and reading. For the past few years, Louise lived with and near her daughter, Louise in Issaquah, Washington and Sun City West, Ariz. She will be greatly missed.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service which will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church on Staten Island and burial will be alongside her husband at 12 noon Thursday, Oct. 27 at Greenwood Cemetery in Tuckerton, NJ.
