Dear Mike,
I am so very sorry...I just cannot believe that this sweet soul has been taken from earth so soon. I have the very best memories of Maureen-she was the Assistant Nurse Manager at JSMC when I started on nights. Always smiling, always helping, always being the protective mother hen-I knew she'd be right there for any of us if we needed help! She once described how a mother's love gets passed down from mother to 1st born child to 2nd born, etc...she compared it to lighting candles-starts with the original flame and goes down the line, candle to candle until all are lit-didn't matter how many candles there were, just mattered that they'd all be lit by the other's flame...amazing...words of motherly wisdom from a woman I will always remember. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy is with you and your children.
Love, Kristen

Mike and Family-
I am so saddened to read about the loss of your wonderful wife. She was an extroardinary person who shined as a mother. I recall being in your home giving the older children piano lessons and finding myself in awe of Maureen's patience, dedication, and love for her children and their individual needs. I watched your older children help out with the younger ones and know they will become wonderful parents one day. I admired the two of you for raising such beautiful, caring children. I pray that Maureen's wonderful spirit will live in each of them. She touched so many lives. My prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time and hope you are given the strength you need to continue without your soulmate. Robert and I send our condolences to all!

Francine and I will miss seeing Maureen at the soccer fields and family events. Maureen was always the easiest person to talk with, even if a lot of time had passed since we last saw each other; she was always asking you how YOU were and she made you laugh. Seeing her with her children inspired you and made you proud to know someone so patient and kind and sweet. I know she's with Uncle Walt now and I'll think of them often and with love when I do...although you are now in a better place, we miss you cuz'.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console,
to be understood as to understand; to be loved, as to love;
or it is giving that we receive it is in pardoning that we are
pardoned and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
~Saint Francis~
Maureen was an awesome woman who dedicated her life to family and the Lord's work. She leaves a beautiful legacy, and example of the love of Christ, for all that were blessed to know her. My thoughts and prayers are with you always.

Dear Mike & Family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time. Maureen was a wonderful and extraordinary person. I always enjoyed working with her in CTICU. She was not only a brilliant Nurse but a loving wife, proud mother and a caring friend. We spent many nights talking about raising our families while working hard in ICU. She was always willing to help out and was a lot of fun to work with. One of my favorite nights working was when Maureen had her first girl, Casey after three boys! We made posters, phonecalls and many visits to L&D that night, Mike and Maureen welcomed us like family. She will forever be in our hearts and will be remembered with a smile on her face, She will be missed dearly and God needs her now, Rest in Peace Maur. We Love You!

There was nothing more important to her than her family and she treated her patients like they were her family. I learned so much from her about being a good nurse and a good person.
Rest in peace Maureen.

Mike and family,
This world has lost an extraordinary woman; your family has lost their beloved mother; you, a wonderful man has lost his soul mate; Healthcare has lost an amazing nurse and I have lost a friend.
Maureen leaves behind a legacy of raising 11 beautiful children and I am comforted to think that the love, happiness, and memories that you two have created will be the bond that will keep your family strong and there for each other as time goes on.

I heard today of Maureen's passing. I am still in shock by it. Maureen was a wonderful woman, so vibrant and full of life. She was the greatest mom I ever met, so proud of all of her children. I worked with Maureen in Critical Care at OMC... and ran into her a few times afterwards.. She always had a smile on her face no matter how crazy things seemed. My prayers are with her family and may she always watch over them. To the Hirtes Family... My deepest sympathy to all of you. You were so lucky to have Maureen as a wife, a mother, a sister and a friend.. She was an amazing woman.. God Bless her

I don't know Maureen or the family but read the obituary and felt I needed to just say how sorry I am and how I will be praying for this family. Please know she now lives through all you children. I lost my father when I was 11 so I can sympathize with the children. However to bring 11 children in this world is a great accomplishment and to be admired for. May god bless this family and know you will be in my prayers.
