AGE: 85 BAYVILLE
Robert W. Codner, 85, of Bayville passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Bloomfield, NJ, he lived in South Plainfield before moving to Bayville in 1994. Robert served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a draftsman designer and engineer for Union Carbide, Bound Brook, NJ for 25 years. He went on to work for Polycel in Somerville for 12 years and retired from Horiba/J.K. Edison, NJ. He was a member of the V.F.W Post 9503, Bayville, NJ; a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lacey Twp. and a member of Old Guard, Forked River Chapter 19. Bob was devoted to his wife and his entire family. He was an avid boater and loved crabbing and fishing. He loved sweets and always had his hand in the cookie jar. Bob was a strong, kind, sincere and passionate person. He will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn A. (nee Reinhold); his children, Steven Codner of Syracuse, NY, Glenn Codner and his wife Nancy of West Minster, MD, Cheryl Lankford and her husband David of Edison, NJ; step children, James Richards and his wife Wendy of Piscataway, NJ, John C. Richards and his wife Lisa of Greenbrook, NJ and Susan Scott and her husband Roger of Lawrenceville, NJ; grandchildren, Brian, Michael, Ricky, Justin, Marissa, Christine, Brittany, Heather, Drew, Mary Elizabeth and Katelyn.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1-5pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O'Connell Chapel 706 US. Hwy 9 (Atlantic City Blvd.) Bayville, NJ. The funeral service will begin 10:00am Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth, NJ.
