Emily J. (nee Stout) Mahon, 84, of Holmdel, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was born in Dublin, Ireland. She resided in Manhattan, N.Y. before moving to Holmdel 10 years ago. She worked as a housekeeper at the Manhattan College of New York.
Emily was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Mahon, in 1978. She is survived by her loving children, Maria Whitney of Keansburg, Frances Dunphy and her husband, Patrick of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and John Mahon and his wife, Gerlinde of Brant Lake, N.Y.; a dear sister, Christina Burstein and her husband, Irving of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a dear brother-in-law, Ray Crosas of Bronx, N.Y.; and four cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Perrius and her husband, Joshua, Christopher Mahon and his wife, Heidi, Thomas Mahon and Daniel Dunphy; four precious great-grandchildren, Andrew, Anastasia, Aurora and Aibhinn Perrius; and two special nephews, John and Alex Crosas. Emily leaves a legacy of friendship and love. The number of people she touched by her Irish charm, Old World grace and wit are countless. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport and 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at the funeral home, with a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catharine's R.C. Church, Holmdel. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Mission to Haiti, P.O.
