JOSEPH W. PFLEGER
AGE: 91 FORKED RIVER
Joseph W. Pfleger, 91, of Forked River, passed away on Friday, Jan 02, 2009 at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin. Born in Jersey City, Joseph lived for 25 years in Secaucus before moving to Forked River. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a Lighter Captain for Penn Central Rail Road out of New York Harbor for 30 years before his retirement 30 years ago. Joseph was a member of the YMCA and the Holy Name Society in Secaucus, but his family was everything to him.
Surviving are: his sons, Joseph Pfleger, Jr. of Forked River; and Rev. Phillip Pfleger of Marlton; his grandchildren, Sharon Lucille Spiegel of Mt. Laurel, and Matthew Pfleger of Forked River; and his great-granddaughter Anna Catherine Spiegel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille in 1978.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan 4, 2009 from 2-9 pm at St. Isaac Joques Church, on the corner of Evesboro-Medford Rd. and Elmwood Pl., Marlton, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Isaac Joques Church on Monday, Jan 5, 2009 at 10 am. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. John F. Pfleger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Letters of condolence may be emailed to [email protected].

Dear Pfleger family,
How sad I was to hear of Mr. Pfleger's passing. I'll always remember that gleem he had in his eyes, always giving a wink or a wave. I'm proud to have known him in my years at SOCH, and hope that you all can take comfort in knowing how many lives he touched.

Fr. Pfleger, Joseph,family members and friends,I know how much you will miss your dad. He and all of you were so loving to him and to each other. I encourage you to draw on your faith, and the strength of your family.
