EDMUND JOSEPH MARCINKIEWICZ
AGE: 78 FORMERLY OF OCEAN TOWNSHIP
Edmund Joseph Marcinkiewicz, 78, of Nokomis, Fla., formerly of Ocean Township, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the home of his son Matthew in Wall Township, with his loving family by his side, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Mine Hill before moving to Ocean Township in 1968. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Marcinkiewicz was awarded the Purple Heart and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as an engineer with the Communications and Electronic Command at Fort Monmouth for 42 years before retiring in 1995. An avid fisherman, artist, coin collector, traveler, and explorer, Mr. Marcinkiewicz was a member of the Lady of Mt. Carmel Church of Osprey, Fla. and a member of the Elks Lodge #1854 of Nokomis, Fla.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Marcinkiewicz was predeceased by his parents, Felix Marcinkiewicz and Helen Hecht Marcinkiewicz; and his beloved wife of 35 years, Irene Koval Marcinkiewicz. Surviving are his loving children, Edmund Marcinkiewicz and his wife Judy of Ocean Township, Gregory Marcinkiewicz and his wife PennyLynn of Ocean Township, Darren Marcinkiewicz and his wife Debbie of Ocean Township, Teresa Marcinkiewicz of Tinton Falls, and Matthew Marcinkiewicz and his fiancee Sheri-Ann of Wall; his long time confidant and special companion, Doris Duffy; and his four wonderful grandchildren, Nicole, Karlee, Christopher, and Michael.
A graveside service with military honors, followed by funeral services with Chaplain Joseph DeAngelo will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14 at Woodbine Cemetery, Maple Avenue, Oceanport. Those attending are requested to use the Eatontown Blvd. entrance and follow the cemetery roadway to Section #13 Plot 128. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Marcinkiewicz can be made to Vitas Hospice Care Team # 682, 1 Meridian Road Eatontown, NJ 07724. Arrangements by Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, Wall.
