June Theresa Abbott

Bethel, ME

June Theresa Abbott, of Bethel, ME, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012, after a long struggle with ALS. Born on Dec. 20, 1935 in Newark, NJ to Veronica and Charles Forsyth, she graduated from Passaic Valley High School in 1953. After marrying Alan Stuart Abbott, they moved to Normandy Beach, NJ and later Toms River, NJ, where she taught elementary school for 26 years. Upon retirement in 1993, they built a home and settled in Bethel, ME where June became active with the library, historical society and local quilting group.

Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Alan, she is survived by three children, Tracey Cullen (Brian) of Washington, DC, Todd (Lisa) of New York, NY, and Andrea Kouros (Peter) of Cape Elizabeth, ME; her brother, Charles (Patricia); eight grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bethel Library, PO Box 130, Bethel, ME 04217 or the Bethel Historical Society, 10 Broad St. #14, Bethel, ME 04127.
