Benjamin McDuffie, Sr., 89, of Neptune, NJ passed away on April 6, 2013 at Neptune Rehabilitation and Care Center, Neptune, NJ. He was born in Fort Motte, SC on July 19, 1923 to Annie and Henry McDuffie, Sr.
Benjamin moved to the Asbury Park/Neptune area when he was a teenager. He was employed in numerous jobs, he was a bartender at the Two Door Lounge and also at Cranes Smoke and Restoration.
He was predeceased by 1 son, Benjamin Jr.; his parents; 3 brothers, William, Roosevelt and Herman McDuffie; and 1 sister, Rebecca Mackey. He is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Helen R. (Charles) Morgan of Asbury Park; sister, Rosetta Gunter, 2 brothers, Henry Jr. of GA, and Elliott of SC; 3 grandsons, Hercules, Reginald Gladden of GA, and Benjamin, II of Ohio; 3 granddaughters, Suzan Davis of GA, Glynis Gladden of West Palm Beach, FL, and Tiffany Adams of OH; 12 great grandchildren; a loving and caring ex-wife, Ella; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other Relatives.
Services will be private. James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of arrangements.
