Bernice Cole Obituary

Bernice passed away October 8, 2010 at Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, with her family by her side. She was born in San Francisco on September 7, 1916 and is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob. Bernice was a resident of Penn Valley for 35 years and a member of the Nevada County Jewish Community Center Sisterhood. She was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and the game of golf. A gifted seamstress and knitter, Bernice also enjoyed her flowers and gardening at home and was a member of numerous groups in Lake Wildwood where she resided. Bernice was fiercely independent, loved traveling, especially to Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico, and cherished her relationships with her family and friends. Bernice is survived by her son, Jeffrey Citron and daughter-in- law, Susan Lausten-Citron of Oregon House, her daughter, Lauretta Citron-Walkup and son- in-law, Duane Walkup, of San Francisco, her grandson, Omaha Perez and two great-grandchildren, Lennon and Ileana Perez of Redondo Beach, her step-granddaughter, Angie Zirkle and step-great-granddaughter, Angelina Zirkle of Cotati, and two step-sons, Harold Cole of Phoenix, and Bob Cole, Jr., of Redding. A celebration of Bernice's life will be held at Temple B'Nai Harim, 506 Walsh Street, Grass Valley on Thursday, October 14th at 9:30 a.m. A private family inurnment has been arranged with Ullrey Memorial Chapel of Yuba City. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer's Society of Nevada County, or the Dobbins-Oregon House Improvement Foundation.
