Anita Lang Obituary

Anita Mariam Lang, passed away August 5, 2016, she was 95 years old at the time of her death. Anita was born on February 23, 1921 in Bishop, CA to Fred and Lena Heitman. In 1925, the Heitman family which included two brothers (Ewald and Wilbert) relocated to Meridian, CA where t hey eventually acquired 200 acres of farm ground. Anita married Eddie F. Lang and moved onto the 60 acre property located on Morgan Road in the Meridian area where Anita continued to live until her death. Anita and Eddie had four children: Eddie F. Lang Jr., Lynda G. Lang, Diane Jaeger and Nancy Sandgren.

During Anita's life she encountered many challenges including the Great Depression, four major wars and she lived through four floods, the last of which destroyed her home in 1996. Anita could hardly wait for her new home to be completed and return to the farm that she loved. There were accomplishments that Anita was proud of during her life including landscaping Sutter High School and serving on the grand jury, but nothing compared to the love of being on the farm and the pride in growing things.

Her husband Eddie F. Lang and her daughter Lynda G. Lang preceded her in death.

Survivors include: Eddie F. Lang Jr. (son) and Cheri Lang (his wife), Diane Jaeger (daughter) and Jerry Jaeger (her husband), Nancy Sandgren (daughter) and Steve Sandgren (her husband); grandchildren Eddie F. Lang II and Inessa (his wife), David Webb and Lynn (his wife), Derek Sandgren and Sara (his wife), Brian Sandgren and Jenny (his wife); great-grandchildren Claire Sandgren, Avery Sandgren, Layla Sandgren, Charlotte Sandgren and Nicole Webb.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 with a graveside service at 9:00 am at the Meridian Cemetery in Meridian. A memorial service will be held following the graveside service at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 850 Cooper Ave., Yuba City with a reception to follow at the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, a donation is encouraged to the church that she attended for over 85 years. First Lutheran Church, 850 Cooper Ave., Yuba City, CA 95991, in honor of her memory.

Our prayers are with all of you and we are very sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed visits with your mom seeing her often at First Lutheran. She was always doing something for or at the church and I know that her faith was a constant part of her life. I knew her through church and later Val met her through farming. He really enjoyed his visits with Anita and admired her hard work and strength. Anita was a very special person to all who knew her. We know how special it is to have a parent and grandparent for so many years and she was blessed to have had such a long and happy life.
With our Love,

My husband Charles (now also gone)used to tell me how, as kids, he rode horses with Anita and her brother in the Buttes. I remember her as a wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable lady who was always willing to help.

Anita was a legend in this area and she will be truly missed. Praying for her.
