Helen Sterud Heilmann

Helen Sterud Heilmann 99, of Yuba City, passed away on November 19, 2010 at The Gardens assisted living facility in Yuba City. Born Helen Christine Sterud in Brookings, SD, she later moved with her family to District Ten north of Marysville. She was a longtime Yuba-Sutter resident and formerly lived at Lake Wildwood for 25 years. She graduated from Marysville High School and worked as an operator for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company. She married Paul Clay Heilmann, and the couple lived in Live Oak for many years before moving to Marysville. She was a founding member of the First Lutheran Church of Yuba City. After her retirement from the Telephone Company, she was active in bridge and gardening. Survivors include a son, Paul (Linda) Heilmann of Lafayette; a daughter, Susan Heilmann (Allen) Miller of Carmel; two grandsons, Eric (Kathy) Heilmann of Los Altos; and Peter (Jennifer) Heilmann of San Francisco; and four great-grandsons three nieces, Phyllis Fiedler and Sally Day of Sacramento and Wendy Lee of Portland, OR. Donations may be made to First Lutheran Church, The Gardens, or Sutter North Hospice Foundation. A service will be conducted at 1 pm, Dec., 4, at First Lutheran Church in Yuba City.
