Henry Herr Obituary

Henry Herr Born March 16, 1978 in Yuba City; passed away January 8, 2011 in Antelope, CA at the age of 32. Beloved husband of 8 years, married to Karen Kiewit of Los Angeles, CA, and son of James and Glenda Herr of Browns Valley, CA. He is survived by his parents and wife Karen. He was a talented and highly visible athlete having earned the title of 'Athlete of the Year' at Lindhurst High School before graduating in 1996. He went on to play college football, was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, and earned a Masters degree in Kinesiology at California State University at Northridge. Following his research in the Masters program, his findings were published and cited in several publications. He was in pursuit of a career in fire fighting, when shortly following the completion of a fire academy at Yuba College, he received an advanced diagnosis of brain and spinal cancer, a battle which he fought for nearly four years. He will forever be remembered as a man of strength, character and faith. Services will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 10am at East Lawn Memorial Park, 5757 Greenback Blvd Sacramento, CA. I can't agree more with the words used to describe Henry in this obituary...strength, character and faith...these are in fact the words that come to me when I reminisce fondly about Henry. I met Henry in middle school and will never forget competing with him in the many athletic competitions we played together. Henry was the biggest guy I knew...and the kindest...truly a man that treated others like we all should, with respect and an open heart. My condolences to the Herr family, with love,

My dear friend,
I will never forget our conversation we had last March about God. It really touched my heart and I finally felt like I wasnt alone.Thank goodness for our faith because where else would we be without it? The Lord is so lucky to have you and he must be so proud.
Even though you no longer suffer thru the pains and we all know you are in a much better place, its still so hard to believe one of our Blazers is gone. I can not wait for all of us to reunite again at the table with our jerseys and cheer uniforms!!!! You will never ever ever ever be forgotten.

I wanted to say thank you for being a part of my life and making me a better person. I can not put into words how much I will miss you. Over the years we have talked on the phone and stayed in touch the best we could. I had an opportunity to see you one last time and it meant the world to me.
