James Black Obituary

James L. Black 75, of Browns Valley, passed from this world and went home to our Lord on October 9, 2010. Beloved husband and best friend of Virginia, father to Renee Holland (Brett), Michael Montgomery (Petra), Kelly Singh (Russell), father of Deborah Kneeland, John Paul Black, James Black, grandfather of Brittany Montgomery, Davin and Trinidad Singh, Amanda and Melinda Kneeland and brother of Joseph H. Black. Jim was well known, loved and respected in this community by many people. He was a true patriot, having proudly served our country for 21 years in the United States Navy. He retired as a Sergeant from the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, retired as an instructor from Yuba College where he taught in the Administration of Justice program and retired as owner/operator of NorCal Investigations, a private investigation firm. He enjoyed making beautiful furniture in his wood shop and being in the company of his family and friends. He always considered others before himself and he had a terrific sense of humor. Our lives were blessed to have known and loved him and he is greatly missed. Our loving memories will sustain us until we are joined with him again. A Memorial Service will be held October 22, 2010 at 11:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Marysville, 1945 Sampson Street. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim's name to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Send Condolences at www.appealdemocrat.com

Virginia

These few words in “g–minor,” are to express our sadness on this moment of your sorrow. Scores of words couldn’t begin to fill the emptiness or replace the reflections that Jim left behind.

Now God has gone to prepare a place, and welcome your loving Jim . . . Home.
God Bless

Our Hearts are with you,
Hector and Dolores Hernandez

Although I didn't "socialize" with Jim and his wife, Virginia, it was Jim whom many years ago encouraged me to pursue a career in law enforcement. Jim is known for being a really "nice guy." May the comfort of Christ Jesus be with the family.
