Jeanne Hart

Jeanne Hart passed away peacefully at her home November 15, 2010 in Gridley, Ca. She was born September 7, 1941 in Texas and grew up in California. She came to Gridley and spent her life involved in the community she loved. She was very active in civic affairs as a board member and treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years and Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital Foundation Board. She, along with Kaleidoscope was instrumental in keeping music in the Gridley school system. She was a founding member of FOCUS which supports the children of Butte County. She was twice president of Quota Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was honored by the community as Woman of the Year in 1992. She was awarded the Presidents Choice Award from the Chamber of Commerce in 2008. There was never a project that any organization held that Jeanne's heart and hand was not a part of. She was the business owner of Butte View Bookkeeping, Realty and Property Management, and for the past 25 years owner and operator of Cottage Mercantile of downtown Gridley. Jeanne's passion for music and performing lead her to use her beautiful voice in local musicals and the Birdcage Theater productions. Jeanne a driving influence in many things in the community, and her smile and positive attitude will be missed by all who knew her. Jeanne is survived by her husband of 34 years, Les Hart, mother Marj VanDemark Webb, children, Richard Barney of Cameron Park, David Pollock of Truckee, Marjorie Wood of Gridley, four grandchildren, four stepchildren, David Reason, Judy Hart, Brad Hart, and Todd Hart. Memorial Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 400 Spruce Street in Gridley, Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to FOCUS or a choice of charity are suggested by the family.
