Lola Testa Obituary

Lola May Testa, nee Rose, formerly of Marysville, passed away Friday Oct. 8 2010 in Willows CA following a long illness. Lola May was born August 20 1922 in Oklmulgee OK as one of eight siblings. Lola May moved to San Diego CA prior to WWII. She met and married John Peter Testa of Illinois in November 1943. The family lived mostly in California moving to Marysville from Long Beach in 1960. She retired from CalTrans Dist. 3, working first as a pool secretary and retired as an engineer assistant and a member of the Society of Professional Engineers. Lola May loved music. She and two sisters formed a trio, performing locally and on radio in Oklahoma. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marysville. She was active in the choir, Sunday School and the Footsteps Program. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1968 and her parents Willie and Florence Rose as well as all of her siblings. She is survived by her three children; John of Oklahoma City, OK, Alice of Oakland, CA and Ward of Anchorage, AK; as well as three granddaughters and a large extended family and dear friends. I will always be grateful to my great Aunt Lola May for singing with my great Aunt Nadine and my grandmother Irva at my Bar Mitzvah 26 years ago.

Aunt Lola May was a wonderful person and I will always remember her beautful smile, hugs, and such warm worth while visits to my home and my visits to where ever she was. God bless her family and give them peace. Lynda Simmons
