Norman Pipione Obituary

Norman Joseph Pipione, 74, of Yuba City, CA passed away peacefully, with family close by, on October 1st, 2010. He was born February 28th, 1936 in Oakland, CA to Joseph and Helen Pipione. He was preceded in death by both parents as well as his brother Lawrence. Norm was a retired auditor for the DCAA. Norm was an avid sports fan whose favorite teams included The Oakland A's, SF 49er's, Texas Longhorns and the San Antonio Spurs. Of all sports though, baseball was his passion. Norm played baseball during his youth and adult life and later coached a number of Little League teams. Norm had a great love and appreciation of family and fun. A perfect day for Norm would be fishing in the morning, watching an A's game in the afternoon and then telling stories and jokes while enjoying an "adult beverage" late into the evening. He was a wonderful father, loving grandfather and good friend. Norm is survived by his wife of 23 years, Edie, and his daughters Holly Stamper (Danny) of Yuba City, CA, Amy Pipione of Auburn, CA and Ashley Pipione of Coos Bay, OR. Also surviving Norm is his step son Paul Albers (Debbie) of Austin, TX, his step daughter Sara Malphurs (Darren) of Austin, TX and his step daughter Adrienne Albers of Austin, TX as well as his grandchildren Abby, Olivia, Leah, Kayla, Katie, Hannah, Emily and Joseph. Talin, his great grandson whom he never got to meet, was born four days before his passing. On October 3rd, 2010, family and friends gathered at his daughter Holly's house to celebrate Norm's life. He was always the life of the party, even on that day. Send Condolences to www.appealdemocrat.com

Times with Norm at the A's game, or telling stories on the patio are some of my favorites. He taught me what a no-hitter was, and we sat together as Nolan Ryan pitched one in Oakland. He shared my love of weather and we watched Doppler radar for hours together. I will miss him very much. I always thought I would see him again.

I am so fortunate to have wonderful memories of Norm and his incredible way with people. He loved his family first of all and never met a stranger. He touched so many lives. He will always be a good friend.
