My Uncle Rick was described in many ways at his memorial service yesterday: humble, easy-going, funny, loving, thoughtful... While all of those are certainly true, but would also like to add "talented." His talent immediately comes to mind whenever I think about him. He could build anything. Anything. And he was known all over town for his talent - especially in woodworking. He personally built me several things over the years and I was always impressed with his attention to detail and craftsmanship. He was an artist.
I think Grandma Marilyn hit the nail on the head the day Uncle Rick passed away: "You know, Rick lived the life he wanted to live." It may not have been the one some of us wanted for him, but it was his and he certainly lived it on his terms. For that, even if just in principle, I tip my hat to him.
I love you and miss you, Uncle Rick. Rest in Peace.

Dad..you are and have always been my strength and whole heart. I have thought about you day and night. I love you so much papa. Growing up, Rick was a huge part of our lives. Many memories are flowing around us of The Narrows, Bosen Construction, Rick's cool art work at the office on Aylor, Killer the cat, Brutus & Portia the German Shepherds, and oh, so much more.
