WHITE, Katherine "Kay" Katherine Freeman White (Kay) died September 14, 2016. She was born on February 22, 1926 to John D and Landis Barton Freeman at their home in Nashville, Tennessee. Katherine attended the Peabody Demonstration School in Nashville. She received a BA in Chemistry from Baylor University, Waco, Texas, then received a certificate in Medical Technology from Nashville General Hospital. Katherine was active in her church, the Cherokee Chapter of DAR, the Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia, and the Medical Auxiliary of Atlanta and of Georgia. She served in many offices for each organization including chapter and state president of The Medical Auxiliary. She was an avid family historian. Katherine and Perry visited most of the county courthouses and cemeteries from Virginia to Texas to document the family history. She compiled all her research into three books on the family history and genealogy. Katherine is survived by Perry Merrill White Jr., M.D., her husband of 68 years, two sons, Perry Merrill White III, M.D. (Janet), John David White (Sharon), two daughters, Georgia Lynette White, and Katherine White Long (Henry), 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Georgia May Fielden. There will be a private burial service at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia. A memorial service will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Haggai Institute, PO Box 13, Atlanta, GA 30370-2801, Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church Mission Fund, 2715 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30305, or charity of your choice.

She wrote our first known family book, "White, Merrill, ETC, The Lineage of Perry Merrill White, Jr., M.D., by Katherine Freeman White". This Book was on display, at our 1998 Family Reunion, in Maud Texas, for the Newton Johnson White family and his descendants. It had inspired me to continue down all branches of our family from Robert White Sr 1743-1843, and all of his surviving children. Without Katherine's guidance, I could have never accomplished my research to the current day. I had communicated with Katherine several time over the many years, she was always eager to share our family information, and help us all. She will be missed by our entire family, and remembered always.

As members of the Manakin Huguenot Society, my husband and I would like to express our sympathy for your loss. She was an extremely accomplished person, and a valued member of our society, where she was a Life Member and served as president. She will be greatly missed, and we know you are proud of the legacy she left your family.
Sincerely,
David and Lena Wiley
