Family-Placed Death Notice

Mrs. Jane Moorhead Thompson, age 67 of Griffin, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was surrounded by her beloved family on their annual vacation to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Mrs. Thompson was born October 6, 1939 in Alpharetta, GA, daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Frank Moorhead and the late Helen Moorhead. She was an honor graduate of LaGrange High School and a graduate of Emory University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and sweetheart of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. She was a member of the Utility Club of Griffin, Griffin Country Club and Griffin First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Thompson pursued careers in both teaching and real estate sales. Married for almost 46 years to her beloved husband, Lin Thompson, she was a devoted and loving wife and mother to her three children and proud grandmother of her three grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Anne Moorhead Segars. Survivors include her husband, Lin Thompson of Griffin; son and daughter-in-law, Hayne and Marianne Thompson of Norcross; son and fiancee, Stuart Thompson and Sabra Hope of Griffin; son, Allen Thompson also of Griffin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcia and Matthew Powers of Griffin, Helen and Ed Hermoyian of Marietta; grandchildren, Thad, Will and Lydia Thompson of Norcross; nieces and nephews; caregivers, Brenda Huguley, Carolyn King and Tammy Jones and many special friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Moorhead Thompson will be held Monday, July 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Griffin First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, July 22, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests that those desiring make donations to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 7669, Atlanta, GA. 30357-0669 in memory of Mrs. Thompson. To pay condolences online to the family, please do so at www.haistenmcculloughfuneralhome.com.
