Family-Placed Death Notice

NISSENBAUM, Alvin Mr. Alvin Wallace Nissenbaum, age 93, of Atlanta, died November 3, 2008. He was born at home in Atlanta, the son of the late Mr. Samuel Edward Nissenbaum and Mrs. Pearl Winer Nissenbaum. He grew up in the Inman Park area where he attended public schools. After graduating from Boy's High, he entered Georgia Tech. As a boy he played the violin in the Atlanta Jr. Symphony. After graduating from Tech he joined National Linen Service, where he spent his entire business career of 45 years. During this period, he managed company branches in Pensacola, Macon, Chattanooga, Norfolk, Alexandria and Washington DC. When he returned to Atlanta to the company headquarters in 1969, he was appointed Regional VP of the Southern Region. In 1972 he was promoted to Executive VP and in 1975 was named President an office he held until his retirement in 1980. Alvin is predeceased by his first wife, Clarice Honea and his second wife, Elizabeth Dittler. He is survived by his sister, Helene Devay of Bethesda, MD, a nephew, Dan Devay of Raleigh, NC, a niece, Lauren Frankel of Washington DC, a great niece, Mindy Frankel of Washington, DC, a niece, Donna Vine of Centennial, CO, a stepson, Jack Olden and step daughters, Carol Olden and Susan Houser all of Atlanta. The graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Ave, Sandy Springs, GA, 30328. Rabbi Frederick Reeves will conduct the service.
